Last updated: April 27, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Pure Golf Journal ("Pure," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application (the "App"). By using Pure, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the information needed to make Pure work. We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers or analytics partners beyond what's described below.

1.1 Information you provide directly

1.2 Information collected automatically

1.3 Information from third-party sign-in providers

If you sign in using Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google, we receive:

We do not receive your password.

1.4 What we do NOT collect

We do not collect, and have no access to:

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to operate Pure. Specifically:

We do not use your information for:

3. Where Your Information Is Stored

Pure uses Supabase (https://supabase.com) as its backend infrastructure provider. Your account and journal data are stored in Supabase's hosted Postgres database, with row-level security ensuring you can only access your own data. Supabase complies with industry-standard security practices including encryption at rest and in transit.

Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth, which integrates with Apple's and Google's OAuth services. When you use those sign-in methods, you are subject to Apple's and Google's respective privacy policies in addition to ours.

4. Sharing Your Information

We share information only as follows:

We do not sell your information.

4a. Photo License

When you upload photos to Pure (course photos, round photos, or as part of a rating), you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display those photos within the App, including:

This license is solely for the purpose of operating the App's features. You retain ownership of your photos. You can remove a photo at any time by deleting the rating or round it was attached to, or by reporting it for removal. Removing a photo revokes this license going forward, but does not retroactively recall copies that other users may have already cached on-device.

You agree not to upload photos you do not have the right to share (e.g., copyrighted images you don't own, photos of identifiable individuals without their consent, or content prohibited by Apple's App Store guidelines).

5. Your Rights and Controls

You have the following rights regarding your data:

If you are in the EU, UK, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR and CCPA, including the right to data portability, the right to object to processing, and the right to lodge a complaint with a regulator. We honor these rights for all users regardless of jurisdiction.

6. Children's Privacy

Pure is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account and journal data as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., financial records — though Pure currently has no paid features).

Backups are retained for up to 30 days after deletion as part of standard disaster recovery practice. After that they expire automatically.

8. Security

We use the following security measures:

No system is perfectly secure. If we discover a breach affecting your data, we will notify you within 72 hours of discovery and follow applicable breach-notification laws.

9. International Users

Pure is operated from the United States. If you use Pure from outside the US, your data will be transferred to and stored in the United States. By using Pure, you consent to this transfer.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as Pure evolves. When we do:

Your continued use of Pure after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

11. Course Imagery & Intellectual Property

Pure displays photos and information for golf courses sourced from freely-licensed media (such as Wikimedia Commons), course operator websites used in a small editorial capacity, user-submitted photos, and stock photo libraries. Rights holders who believe content in Pure should be removed or corrected may submit a takedown request. See our separate Copyright Notice & Takedown Policy for details.
